The Emergency 911 System Is Broken Worldwide And Guardium Is Trying To Fix It

Posted by Kurt Braget on May 26, 2018

By the time you realize there is a delay in 911 response times, it may be too late for you.

With the improvements in technology, one would expect that the emergency services would have a quicker response, but they don’t. According to recent surveys, it is quite the opposite.

For example for a serious crime, the NYPD response went from an average of eight minutes and 31 seconds in the fiscal year 2013 to Publish nine minutes and 38 seconds in 2015.
Over the same period, non-critical response times increased from 15 minutes 58 seconds to minutes 17 seconds.

This means more people are dying and this is a very serious issue.

Americans alone make 240 million calls to 911 each year. But a recent USA Today report said 911’s chances of getting a quick fix on a distress call’s location can range as low as 10%.
And according to a 2014 Federal Communications Commission study, location accuracy improvements could save over 10,000 lives annually.

What is slightly amusing is that when you google ‘alternative to 911’ you are shown in the article about Porsche 911.

While the Chief Minister of Goa in India launched 2 wheeler ambulances to enable a faster response, A lot of people in China gave up on their country’s official emergency hotline long ago.
They said that the emergency services are always busy, and almost never make it in time.

Chinese Ambulance Traffic Fail

And even if someone miraculously got an ambulance as required, there are always instances when the ambulance is stuck in traffic.
